The Journey
The Journey is a reading plan of God’s Word that was birthed through prayer. We have two Journeys for discipleship:
The major difference is the length of reading in each Journey. There is really no right-or-wrong in selecting a Journey. If you are not a strong reader the first option of the Journey may suit you better (Story Bookmarks). If you are a strong reader you would probably gravitate towards the second option of the Journey (Journey Bookmarks). Again, there is no right-or-wrong the goal is to become immersed in God’s Word. Our advice is for you to pray to the Lord where to begin.
The first option of the Journey encompasses reading short readings in God’s Word. We call this the “Story Journey” because each weekly reading is a different “story” from God’s Word. The stories are typically 15-20 verses long. In week one of this Journey the story is 1 Samuel 3:1-18. Each person would read this entire story every day for an entire week. After the first week, everyone should meet to discuss what they “heard” from Jesus throughout the week. Afterwards, this Journey continues with another story
The second option of the Journey encompasses entire books of the Bible. In this Journey individuals would commit to a repetitive reading of God’s Word. In week one of this Journey the first book is Colossians. As you begin this Journey with others, everyone will read the entire book of Colossians every day for an entire week. After the completion of the first week, everyone should meet to discuss Colossians and what they “heard” from Jesus as they read throughout the week. After this, the group will begin week two which will involve reading a different book of the Bible every day in its entirety. This Journey goes through every book of the Bible.
We have seen numerous individuals become disciples of Jesus Christ through the Journey. People have been saved, set free from addictions or strongholds, realized their purpose, received direction in their daily lives, and experienced unbelievable growth and intimacy with Jesus Christ in their personal lives. Many have discipled others, who have discipled others, and many more have been discipled beyond themselves. The Journey is a journey with Jesus through His Word and with others who share a desire to know Him in a deeper way. It is our sincere prayer that God will continue to use the Journey to prepare His church to reap the harvest in the days to come.
